Sonja Rogova’s ‘tool, inhabited’ is a hybrid architectural tool (a ladder) and a domesticated piece of furniture (seating), it’s a ladder that can be leaned against, climbed and sat on.
Both the width of the two bottom rungs as well as their distance to one another are adapted to the measurements of a chair’s seat and backrest. The seating area is upholstered either exclusively where the user would sit or completely from top to bottom.
Says Rogova, “Every so often, it will also be transformed into a coat rack, bookshelf, or shoe stand. Due to its lean attributes it can be stacked, packed away, or put against a wall easily and requires considerably little space.”
