'c1' rug from the 'Room moment' collection by detailF
Franziska Wernicke, a Rotterdam-based textile designer and founder of detailF design studio has realised this subdued, four-piece collection of New Zealand wool rugs called ‘room moment’. Comprising one rectangular and three circular versions, the series features a distinctive three-colour gradation which is accentuated by a delicate radial pattern emanating from an offset point. A complex, high-tech tufting technique has been used in the production of the series and the ‘c3’ model of the rug was exhibited and nominated for the ‘interior innovation award 2012’ at the imm cologne’s [D³] Contest. Pendant light w121 by Claesson Koivisto Rune for Wästberg
As a material, wool is most frequently used in production of garments – in your own cardigan, in a Katharine Hepburn hat or in the modern athlete’s performance clothes – but not so often for lamps. During this year’s Stockholm Furniture Fair however, Wästberg has launched a series of pendant lights called w121, w122 and w123s out of this natural and versatile material, designed by the Swedish design collective Claesson Koivisto Rune. 'Washhouse' installation by Studio Makkink & Bey
The latest exhibition at the Berlin gallery HELMRINDERKNECHT is dedicated to the newest work of the Dutsch design duo Makkink & Bey. The showcased woollen blankets are the result of the Textielmuseum’s workshop, Textilelab, in Tilburg, Netherlands. Studio Makkink & Bey has created a site-specifc walk through the three dimensional landscape of a rural village. Hanging on a clothesline the blankets give shape to the space and divide it. Individually woven patterns and lines become a house’s exterior walls or refect the imagery of the surrounding landscape.

'Interlock' by Tomek Rygalik for ABR
The Polish designer Tomek Rygalik created this modular carpet made from woven wool for the Spanish 2005-founded label ABR.
A single piece acts as a base in this model of carpet. The framework of the laterals represents a jigsaw puzzle. New pieces could be added longitudinally. Each piece is made of three different layers. Each layer has its own colour. That allows at least the use of two different colours with the outer layers.

The material of the carpet is completely new. Pure wool woven in a way it look alike felt. It is not conglomerated -as in felt. It has been woven with looms following a traditional Polish technique.

'Lisse', inspired by tulip fields, by Liz Eeuwes
Liz Eeuwes is a Canadian designer based in Glasgow, Scotland. Since graduating with a degree in Product Design from the Glasgow School of Art, Liz has set up a home studio in order to develop her own designs.
Her first collection is a range of artistic, textured rugs inspired initially by the rich colours and diverse structures of the Scottish countryside. Recognising the similar visual effects of rugs and aerial views of landscapes, Elizabeth began experimenting with various pile heights, hand knotting, weaving, colouring and carving techniques in order to accurately capture the look and feel of these areas.

Each rug is made entirely by hand using the finest materials and the result is a collection of high quality unique pieces that combine colour, texture and shape in a new and exciting way and are appropriate for both contemporary and traditional environments.

A modular carpet system: 'Mangas' by Particia Urquiola
‘Mangas’ (engl. Sleeves) is based on a patchwork of different wool knits, to create a collection of various typologies with different shapes, going from Manga corta (short sleeve) to Manga de campana (bell-shaped sleeve). The result is a series of eight very special carpets, full of nuances, due to their variety of textures and colours.
