The latest addition to the Brighton-based furniture brand Dare Studio‘s collection, the pared-down design of this solid-wood ‘Maya’ desk was developed by UK-based designer James Melia. Launched earlier this year during London Design Festival in September, the highly-sculptural piece features a large concealed drawer and two ‘secret’ storage units and is available in variety of materials and finishes such as American black walnut or white oak or ash with an optional timber or Corian top. Described by its designer as “a modern tool for sitting,” this extremely-reduced, three-legged chair was created by London-based Faye Toogood. Owing its minimalist form to Toogood’s clever juxtaposition of two mundane objects: a milking stool and a spade, the solid-ash chair is now available as part of ‘BATCH’ collection which also includes a stool, coffee table, side table and a dining table designs. Craig Foster, a young UK-based designer has recently realised this small, easy-to-assemble desk lamp called ‘Kurk’. Featuring a distinctive brogue detailing with a serrated edge, this elegant three-legged table was designed by a Welsh-born Bethan Gray. The piece is composed of a solid wood base, which is available in either oak or walnut, and a circular, top-grain leather tabletop in tan or white. Produced by a recently-launched G&T brand – a collaborative project between Gray and furniture developer Thomas Turner – ‘Brogue’ comes in variety of sizes and heights. (more…)
Following his utilitarian ‘Working girl’ stool designed for Deadgood last year, the Newcastle-based young designer David Irwin continues his collaboration with the British manufacturer who has recently unveiled Irwin’s latest product, this clean-cut, multifaceted pendant lamp called ‘EXTL’. Available in two sizes, each of the models is composed of five identical elements made of 3-millimetre-thick aluminium which are connected by a thin silicone strip. (more…)

Award-winning British industrial designer Benjamin Hubert has collaborated with the Portuguese manufacturer De La Espada on this visually light, stackable chair called ‘Pelt’. Twelve months in the making, the design features a thin, birch plywood shell which ‘wraps around a solid ash frame, akin the skin over an animal’s skeleton’ and the chair was launched during this year’s edition of the London Design Festival.
