The acclaimed, Stockholm-based design trio Claesson Koivisto Rune have recently collaborated with the Italian furniture brand Tacchini on this collection of large, upholstered sofas and armchairs called ‘Lima‘. Similarly to the ‘Montevideo‘ model, also designed by Claesson Koivisto Rune in 2008, ‘Lima’ features a generously-sized seat based atop delicate, thin-legged frame. 'Bianca' by Franco Albini for Tacchini

The ‘Bianca’ armchair had been designed by the Italian design icon Franco Albini in 1939 as an addition to the furnishings of the prestigious Villa Monzino on Lake Como in Northern Italy.

There’s something particularly pleasing about a designer’s iconic pieces being shown in their own studio, years after they were first launched – especially when the creative in question is Italian design legend Achille Castiglioni.


'V-Table' by Xavier Lust for Tacchini

Sheet metal is his material. With his sophisticated objects made of smartly folded sheet metal the Belgian designer Xavier Lust made his mark in the international design scene. For the Italian manufacturer Tacchini he designed this occasional table which meets, due to its simple but tricky three-leg base, the needs of large-scale production and distribution. ‘V-table’ is suitable for in and outdorr use.

Among the veritable tsunami of novelties presented at this year’s Milan Salone del Mobile were two modest pieces by Achille Castiglione, originally manufactured by Driade and now back in production by Tacchini.

The ‘Sancarlo’ armchair and sofa are highly successful exercises in the marriage of visual lightness and ergonomics. With the furniture’s perfectly placed upholstered elements, the user receives optimal support while sitting. These are two pieces whose graphic appearance dovetails remarkably with comfort.
