imm cologne 2012 preview: 'PRO' chair by Konstantin Grcic for Flötotto (DE)

It appears that the design of the archetypal school chair has been receiving an increasing amount of attention in the past months and following the innovative and much-talked-about Tip Ton chair by the British design duo BarberOsgerby, the German designer Konstantin Grcic has just realised this series of brightly-coloured S-shaped polypropylene chairs which will be presented at this year’s edition of imm cologne fair which opens next Monday (16.01-22.02.2012). Available in three various sizes and six bold colours (snow white, graphite black, granite grey, aqua blue, coral red and kiwi green), the lighweight ‘PRO’ has been been originally intended for use in schools as well as in the private and commercial sectors and it is manufactured by Flötotto. The German manufacturer Movisi recently presented this modular system designed by the Slovenian designers Asobi.

The lightweight system allows different types of seating to be built. Short lounge chair or long public bench – two different Ljubljana modules (with backrest and without backrest) offer endless design possibilities.

The system features slices made from ARPRO® (Expanded Polypropylene), that are connected with a thread rod to create seating isles for different interior settings. An outdoor version with UV treatment is available (on request).
