The myth of the origins of Chile’s Chiloe archipelago was the inspiration for ‘Vilu’, an imposing pendant light “digitally handcrafted” from metal sheet by gt2P for DHPH.
Studio Kimu is formed by Lin YiHsien, Shih Hsiao Chun and Yeh TingWei. The three designers from Taiwan presented a pendant light, which mixes eastern and western stereotypical designs and by combining them, a very playful lamp is created:
From the – at first sight – simple lampshade, a paper part which resembles the traditional Asian lantern can be pulled out.
It looks like a cocoon, which is growing out of the lampshade and transforms not only the shape of the lamp but also the quality of light.
The Parisian-based designer duo Dan Yeffet and Lucie Koldova have recently presented their latest collection of simple glass pendant lights called ‘Shadows’. Manufactured by the Czech lighting brand Brokis, the series is composed of four variously-shaped shades which are available in three colour versions: black-tinted semiopaque glass with a black ash neck; opaque, matte black glass with a black ash neck, and a matte white model with natural oak neck. Known for their playful, out-of-ordinary collections, the French design company Petite Friture has collaborated with young Parisian designer Marc Sarrazin on this series of mesh lamps called ‘Moire’. Available in three sizes and two colours, the light can be either hung as a pendant, used as a floor or table lamp, or fixed to a wall. ‘Moire’ was presented as part of Petite Friture’s new collection at Spazio Rossana Orlandi in Milan. The French-Israeli multidisciplinary creative Arik Levy has collaborated with the Spanish lighting specialists Vibia on this modular, minimalist pendant light design called ‘Rhythm’. Composed of 10 modules of horizontal, short stickers, the lamp can be adjusted and configured into virtually infinite number of patterns and it is available in two different colours and finishes: off white lacquer or matt dark brown. Exactly half a century after its creation in 1962, this iconic ‘The Pendant’ lamp by the late, much-praised Danish architect and designer Hans J. Wegner has recently been reissued by one of Denmark’s oldest producers of fine furniture, Carl Hansen & Søn. Featuring a distinctive, integrated handle, the elegant, height-adjustable lamp is available in three colour variations: white shade with metal handle, black shade with metal handle or brushed aluminium with black handle.
