Comme Moi flagship store is located within the Art Deco Donghu Hotel, built in 1925. Over decades, the building underwent multiple renovations and changes in use, traces of which were still very much present when the design team encountered the site. Neri&Hu deliberately chose to keep these remnants of the past intact, while surgically implanting new design elements to embody the Comme Moi brand: young, sophisticated, and exquisite. Drawing inspiration from the surrounding urban condition, the Camper Showroom / Office in Shanghai by architects Neri & Hu recalls both the spatial qualities and the vibrant activities characteristic of life in a typical Shanghai alleyway, called a “nong-tang.”
The Commune Social restaurant by Neri&Hu
Shanghai-based design firm Neri&Hu have designed a restaurant with four “bars”, one each for a different meal course, called The Commune Social in the Jing’an District of Shanghai for chef Jason Atherton.
'Emperor' table lamp by Neri & Hu for moooi
The Shanghai based practice Neri & Hu designed this series of lamps for the Dutch manufacturer moooi. Hand-made from bamboo and rattan ‘Emperor’ reflects the designers’s intention very well: the accentuation of contemporary Chinese design and traditional Chinese handcraft.

This successful conversion of a 1930s Japanese Army headquarter into a 19-room boutique hotel, located at the new Cool Docks development on the South Bund District of Shanghai, was realised by the locally based Neri & Hu Design and Research Office. The architectural concept behind NHDRO’s renovation rests on a clear contrast of what is old and new.
