the all-plywood chair for Chair Baltic
The Latvian company BFDF (Baltic Furniture Design Factory), which was founded in the year 2000, was the first design-oriented producer of furniture in the Baltic states. Thanks to its clear focus on practicable design using compression-moulded plywood and cooperation with prestigious Scandinavian designers the company succeeded in establishing itself in only a few years, changing its name to Chair Baltic in 2006.
In the form of Zesty the Swedish design team o4i (office for ideas) set itself the challenge of developing a chair which exploits fully the Chair Baltics facilities for processing plywood. The result is a very light, stackable all-purpose chair which can be produced with the minimum of material wastage.
