Curvas dining chair by Goncalo Campos

Curvas was designed with an elegant profile, fully exploring the limits of wood construction.

It’s thin and sturdy structure is only possible thanks to great advances in computer controlled machinery, that can precisely shape each part, to be later masterfully assembled by skilled craftsmen.

This chair was meticulously shaped, to provide maximum comfort. The elegant curves in the back and seat where studied to provide maximum support with the least area possible. While the legs have a semi round profile that allows for great elegance and still provide a large surface area, crucial for a strong joint. (more…)

‘Geo Table’ by Gonçalo Campos for Show Me Gallery

Young Portuguese designer Gonçalo Campos has recently realised this series of stone-and-wood side tables for an art and design gallery Show Me. Aiming to ‘respect the materials and their origin’, the designer focused on retaining the natural qualities of stone by keeping the top surface of the design flat and, thus, functional, while the underside has been left ‘free and wild.’ (more…)

'XI' bookshelf by Gonçalo Campos

Reminiscent of an oversized puzzle, this simple wooden bookshelf has been recently realised by the young Portuguese designer Gonçalo Campos. Featuring a number of discreetly-carved assembly directions, the ‘XI’ bookshelf can be easily put together without the need of screws, glue or any additional parts or joints. Instead, the parts of the design lock together thanks to the very carefully placed fittings. (more…)

'ESA' by Gonçalo Campos

The young Portuguese product designer Gonçalo Campos cretated this series of tables and racks composed of nothing more than fabrics and wood. Each piece can be easily assembled and the joints are simply fixed by a single floral bow which tautly bound stabilises the rather rough construction and forms its decorative part at the same time.
