The starting point for Ferruccio Laviani’s ‘Tuareg’ lamp for Foscarini “was chaos” says the designer. Consisting of simple tubular elements, the combination of which creates a structure reminiscent of scaffolding, Tuareg is more like an artistic installation than a lamp.
Continuing her collaboration with Italian lighting specialists Foscarini, the acclaimed Parisian-based designer Ionna Vautrin has once again turned her attention to the Far East and the Orient for inspiration. Her new, well-proportioned and organically shaped (as has become Vautrin’s signature) table lamp ‘Doll’ has just been unveiled by the Marcon-based brand and it appears to be a natural continuation of Vautrin’s previous, also Orient-inspired pendant light, ‘Chouchin’. Composed of a round, blown glass head and a circular plastic base, ‘Doll’ emanates a warm, soft glow and the lamp is available in four colour versions: ivory, green, grey and red. (more…)
Five asymmetrical modules overlap creating a unique moiré effect in Philippe Nigro‘s Op art-inspired ‘Nuage’ lamp. Produced by the lighting specialists Foscarini, the modular lamp is made of polycarbonate and can be arranged and grouped in multiple combinations or used individually. ‘Nuage’ was unveiled at Foscarini’s Superstudio Piu exhibition in Milan during iSaloni 2012 fair. The acclaimed British designer Simon Pengelly has created this minimalist, sculptural wall-mounted lamp for the Italian lighting specialists Foscarini. Composed of three, overlapping, translucent strips, the form of ‘Innerlight’ was inspired by the work of the American minimalist sculptor Richard Serra. Launched earlier this year during Salone del Mobile, the light is available in two colour versions: understated white or textured brown. (more…)
Continuing their ongoing collaboration initiated back in 2009, the famous clothing brand Diesel and the Italian lighting specialists Foscarini have realised a new collection of lamps. Comprising five new pendant, table and floor lamp designs, the series of novelties includes this small, jolly model ‘Duii mini’. Inspired by both: its namesake Disney character and a form of ‘the headlight of a classic car’, ‘Duii mini’ is available in two colours; bright yellow or dark grey and the design was presented earlier last month at the Temporary Museum For New Design in Superstudio Piu. Following his popular ‘Tropico’ pendant lamp on which he collaborated with the Italian lighting specialists Foscarini in 2008, the Milan-based industrial designer Giulio Iacchetti has recently created this new table and floor lights called ‘Magneto’. Made of painted steel and available at the end of March 2012 in either red or grey colour version, the minimalist, pared-down lamp emits an intensive and precise beam of LED light, which can be adjusted and repositioned thanks to ‘the mysterious force of a magnet that joins the support rod with a circular base’ of the design. She is the mind behind one of the most charming table lamps of the recent years – the award-winning, joyfully-coloured Binic created in collaboration with the Italian brand Foscarini and having received the ‘Grands Prix de la Création’ of the city of Paris in 2010, the multitalented young designer Ionna Vautrin opened her namesake studio in Paris this time last year. Back in October 2011, we had the pleasure of meeting the gifted yet self-effacing Vautrin who answered few of our questions we’ve been itching to ask…
