‘Hug’ armchair by Claesson Koivisto Rune for Arflex

Architects and designers Claesson Koivisto Rune have created a comfortable armchair with a unique open-armed silhouette that appears to be extending a hug. “Arflex has had the foresight and daring, over the years, to work with many great and gifted architects and designers resulting in an uncommon number of iconic designs. The Hug armchair is our response for a new, iconic design, tailor-made for [them].” says CKR.

'Pecorelle' by Cini Boeri for Arflex

The Italian manufacturer Arflex, fonded in 1947, is surely one of these companies which put Italy on the world’s design map. None other than Marco Zanuso one of the very first architects involved with the systems of product industrialization began – together with a group of technicians coming from Pirelli – to experiment the use of foam rubber and elastic tapes for the furniture brand. Today Arflex is one of the most experienced manufacturer in this field. This year’s collection includes this family of upholstery designed by Cini Boeri. ‘Pecorelle’ is composed of a wooden structure, covered by non-deformable shaped polyurethane with differentiated density, a wooden backrest structure with reinforced elastic straps and legs in metal. The quilted cover is completely removable.
