The Skansegaten Board Room by Magu Design is a different board room located in Stavanger, Norway.
GMC AS, a locally-owned industrial group, recently bought the first floor of a 19th century building in the center of Stavanger. Formerly used as a bar, “GMC wanted to change the function and make it into their boardroom/meetingroom.” says Magu Design. “This to be close to the city and have a different atmosphere for their meetings. Their primary offices are located outside the city.”
“Our task was to meet their functional needs and give the room a clear identity. The room should be designed with history in mind but with new experiences for body and mind.”
The building, Skansegaten 13, was built in 1897 as an office/ business building for Shipindustry Middelthons AS and was in poor condition. “Today the room has a main room organized as a meeting room with extra functions as wine cellar, lounge and a combined bar/kitchenette. There is also a kitchen/prep room. There is also a terrace with fireplace. The total size of the boardroom is 100m2.”
