The Norwegian designer and guest professor at Stockholm’s Konstfack university Andreas Engesvik has recently realised this pared-down, ‘low tech’ lamp for the Swedish furniture and fashion brand David Design. Composed of only two parts – a small pine base and a lacquered-metal disk – the minuscule ‘Shelf Lamp’ was launched earlier this year during Stockholm Design Week.
More about the ‘Shelf Lamp’:
‘Shelf Lamp – is a small lamp meant for shelves. The lamp gives light to the surrounding planes and defines the volume/space in the shelf itself. The lamp brings light into a shelf structure and allows a change in modus in comparison with the rest of the shelves containing books etc. Low tech diffusion of the light, along with archetypal shapes and elements, creates a mystical appearance.’
