Franziska Wernicke, a Rotterdam-based textile designer and founder of detailF design studio has realised this subdued, four-piece collection of New Zealand wool rugs called ‘room moment’. Comprising one rectangular and three circular versions, the series features a distinctive three-colour gradation which is accentuated by a delicate radial pattern emanating from an offset point. A complex, high-tech tufting technique has been used in the production of the series and the ‘c3’ model of the rug was exhibited and nominated for the ‘interior innovation award 2012’ at the imm cologne’s [D³] Contest.
More about the series:
‘The ‘room moment’ rugs stand out due to their unique color gradation design and their rich, luxurious finishing. The subtle and smooth color gradient effect gives the impression of a change of dimension in the rug. The design opens up the room in which it is placed, the rug communicates with its architectural surroundings and invites the user to experience a whole new interior dimension. A room moment unfolds.
‘Manufactured entirely in The Netherlands, the ‘room moment’ rugs make use of an exclusive high-tech tufting technique that is able to create super smooth color changes within the tufted rug. The rugs are made out of 100% pure New Zealand wool, through which a luxuriously soft and voluminous rug is obtained. The design consists of three different color gradations made out of two to four intertwining colors, involving a very high level of technical skill and craftsmanship in the manufacturing process.’
