The New York-based multidisciplinary design studio Rich Brilliant Willing whose name derives from the beginning syllables of its three founders’ names: Theo Richardson, Charles Brill and Alexander Williams, created the ‘Clinker’ pendant light for the British label Innermost. The wood-and-glass design follows the circular ‘Clinker’ coffee table RBW created for the same manufacturer in 2009 and the lamp was on view during this year’s Milan Salone del Mobile.
Owing its name to the old boat-building technique employed in the construction of the light, ‘Clinker’ is formed from overlapping wood slats which come in various finishes while the lamp itself is available in three different sizes: circular ‘Mini’ and ‘Pendant’ versions, and an elongated oval ‘Pendant Capsule’ model.

The design and the name of 'Clinker' are based on an old method of constructing watertight boat hulls
