The legs of ‘Layer’, a chair design by Oliver Schick for Sweden’s Mitab, are fixed between an upper and a lower seat shell, a lightweight and durable sandwich structure for a chair inspired by a tower of stacked chairs.
“The circumferential open construction makes Layer appear in a unique typology and due to the seamless transition between seat shell and legs, it looks as would the furniture be grown in one piece.” says Schick.
“Each part is made out of plywood and the contours are CNC milled – an exciting contrast between industrial way of producing and natural material.”
