For Koka, a Scandinavian food restaurant in Gothenburg, Sweden by studio Bornstein Lyckefors, architect Johan Olsson chose soft lighting using Ascent, a lamp designed by Daniel Rybakken.
“To create a fresh, modern environment in spite of the historic image of the building the designer has chosen natural materials and forceful colors: pine and bordeaux frames to underline the magnificent 19th-century ceiling.” says Bornstein Lyckefors.
For the lighting, a project within the project, the architect partnered with Luceplan and its Ascent lamp. “With a simple gesture, the diffuser slides along the stem to adjust light intensity at will: a vertical movement whose simplicity offers an innovative, unusual and extremely precise way of using a dimmer.”
