Dutch wallpaper company NLXL has introduced two new collections for 2015; ‘Addiction’ by Paola Navone and ‘Obsession’ by Daniel Rozensztroch, part of a unique collaboration titled ‘Double Face’.
Says NLXL, “It isn’t a collaboration in the traditional sense. Rozensztroch and Navone worked independently; but the results are joined in one wallpaper book called ‘Double Face’— one page presents Rozensztroch; the reverse side displays Navone’s design.”
“Our project is not so much about design but about obsession and addiction, which is the collection’s name. They are similar, but not the same,” insists Navone.
The trio (including NLXL founder Rick Vintage) met in Paris, Milan and The Hague, where Navone made decisions about Rozenstroch’s collection and vice versa. It turned out Paola had the same working attitude as Daniel. Both work fast and never waste time, making decisions with their hearts. Adds Vintage: “It was truly a joy to work with both Daniel and Paola. No nonsense, no attitude – only focus on a good product and a positive collaboration. Really, I loved it.”
The collection is based on Rozensztroch’s Obsession with collecting everyday objects and Navone’s Addiction to the color blue, especially a vibrant indigo shade. Rozensztroch has been obsessed for many years with everyday, ordinary objects and has not only collected a vast number; he has written several books about them in a series called ‘Everyday Things’ as well as staging exhibitions.
Double Face will be presented during D’Days, June 1-7, 2015 at Merci on Boulevard Beaumarchais 111, Paris, France.
