In the beginning there was Cologne. 1949 to be exact. imm cologne set the blueprint for the large international design trade fair and has been attracting a global crowd of A&D professionals looking for inspiration and to do business ever since.
As the first major exhibition of the year in the industry calendar, it also sets the mood and outlines the trends, to a certain extent, for the year ahead. And let’s not forget it’s where a fledgling Architonic first set up its stall many moons ago.
Of particular interest to architects and interior architects at the 2016 edition of the show – beyond the 1,200 exhibitors from over 50 countries, plus emerging young design talent – will be the ‘Smart Home’ installation in Hall 4.2, which stages the latest in intelligent networking, and Sebastian Herkner’s ‘Das Haus’ in Hall 2.2, which offers visitors the chance to investigate a total, concept-led living environment.
