‘Cumulus’ screen by Elsa Boch

French designer Elsa Boch’s ‘Cumulus’ is a screen whose structure is reduced to the bare minimum. A simple system of magnets and a structure composed of thin metal rods allow various pieces of fabric to be moved and juxtaposed easily, revealing or concealing depending on the quantity and density of fabric it is dressed with.

Leaving 60 year old dock walls untouched, the galleries of the new Danish National Maritime Museum in Helsingør are placed below ground and arranged in a continuous loop around dry dock walls – making the dock the centerpiece of the exhibition – an open, outdoor area where visitors experience the scale of ship building.
