Thanks to our friends at Lars Müller Publishers, we are giving away three copies of the extremely covetable ‘Torre David: Informal Vertical Communities’, with photography by the world’s leading image-maker Iwan Baan.
With text by Urban-Think Tank from Zurich’s ETH, the book documents and analyses the downtown-Caracas ‘vertical squat’ that is the 45-storey Torre David, showing how a disenfranchised community have turned the abandoned commercial project into an organised, materially creative place to live, shop and socialise.
Baan’s photography testifies in an objective manner as possible to the endeavour, ingenuity and pride of the residents of Torre David, one which displaces the negative image of the place that the national press has sought to foster.
