There’s something sneaky about Dutch designer Reinier de Jong’s new ‘VOLT’ table. Just went you think you’ve got a handle on its compelling angles, they escape the grasp of one’s visual comprehension. The designer likens the table to the ‘impossibility of an Escher drawing’. We see shades (and literal ones, too) of avant-garde German Expressionism. Whatever your cultural reference of choice, the pieces’s practical function is clear: the piece can easily accommodate six chairs.
‘VOLT’ is spray-painted and available in a number of different colours. It will be shown at part of the ‘AUTOFFICINA’ exhibition of Dutch designers at Ventura Lambrate during next month’s Milan Furniture Fair.
