‘Moire’ lamp by Marc Sarrazin for Petite Friture

Known for their playful, out-of-ordinary collections, the French design company Petite Friture has collaborated with young Parisian designer Marc Sarrazin on this series of mesh lamps called ‘Moire’. Available in three sizes and two colours, the light can be either hung as a pendant, used as a floor or table lamp, or fixed to a wall. ‘Moire’ was presented as part of Petite Friture’s new collection at Spazio Rossana Orlandi in Milan. ‘Heavy Stock’ shelving system by D Calen Knauf

Young Canadian designer Calen Knauf has recently realised this simple, sturdy yet visually light shelving system called ‘Heavy Stock’. Assembled from paper-thin, white steel sheets and low, untreated maple legs, the modular system allows for multiple configurations and is entirely flat-packable. (more…)

‘Poly’ bowls by Martin Žampach

Young, Prague-based designer and founder of the Designeast.eu webzine Martin Žampach has created this series of hexagonal bowls made of innovative, lightweight-yet-resistant material composed of veneer and cork. Developed in various sizes and proportions, the bowls were recently showcased as part of Colabseries project during this year’s edition of DMY Berlin. (more…)

‘Baladi’ stainless steel cutlery by Galia Tammuz

Inspired by the local tradition and culture of food sharing, a young Israeli designer Galia Tammuz has created this understated tableware collection consisting of stainless steel cutlery, earthenware cups and wooden trays. Called ‘Baladi,’ the design of the series was based on, and achieved through, the relatively inexpensive and simple process of extrusion. As a result, each of the pieces features a distinctive, recurring pattern which has been moulded by the extrusion die. The collection was presented at Milan’s Ventura Lambrate as part of the TLV Express collective exhibition. (more…)

‘Tick’ by Jakob Schenk for Linie 58

Young German designer Jakob Schenk has realised this universal table leg system for his own, 2011-launched company Linie 58. Named ‘Tick’, the legs can be applied to virtually any board which in few easy steps can be converted into a one-of-a-kind table. Made of bent metal wire, ‘Tick’ is available in two widths and variety of finishes such as chrome coated or powder coated in semigloss black or white. (more…)

‘Syzygy: Eclipse’ table lamp by OS ∆ OOS

Taking their cue from ‘the sun and its surrounding celestial bodies’, a duo of young Dutch, Eindhoved-trained designers behind the enigmatically named OS ∆ OOS studio have created a three-piece series of lamps called ‘Syzygy.’ Owing its name to an astronomical name denoting ‘a straight line configuration of three celestial bodies in a gravitational system,’ the collection comprises two table and one wall light models, each of which demonstrates a particular aspect of the syzygy: transit, occultation and eclipse. The lamps are currently on view at a ‘Craft & Scenography’ exhibition in Basel. (more…)

‘Rocking Stool’ by Svenja Diekmann

Unveiled earlier in April as part of a joint exhibition ’2×10′ at Milan’s Ventura Lambrate, this upholstered rocking stool was created by a young German designer Svenja Diekmann. Composed of a simple, metal wire frame and a recycled cotton knitted seat, ‘Rocking Stool’ is available in two sizes and variety of colours. (more…)

'Button' table by Fredrik Wærnes for Strek Collective

This simple two-tone side table has been realised by a young Norwegian-born Switzerland-based product designer Fredrik Wærnes. Launched earlier this year at Milan’s ‘Salone del Mobile, as well as presented in May during the ICFF fair in New York by the Norwegian creative collective Strek, the table was ‘developed with the purpose to provide versatility in the living space. ‘ (more…)
