Close-up of Faye Toogood’s ‘Spade Chair / BATCH’

Described by its designer as “a modern tool for sitting,” this extremely-reduced, three-legged chair was created by London-based Faye Toogood. Owing its minimalist form to Toogood’s clever juxtaposition of two mundane objects: a milking stool and a spade, the solid-ash chair is now available as part of ‘BATCH’ collection which also includes a stool, coffee table, side table and a dining table designs. ‘Kurk’ desk lamp by Craig Foster

Craig Foster, a young UK-based designer has recently realised this small, easy-to-assemble desk lamp called ‘Kurk’. Made of cork, the light was designed with sustainability with mind and it was awarded the second place at this year’s edition of the Lighting Association’s Student Lighting Design Awards. (more…)

‘Another Ceramic Candlestick’ by Marie Dessuant for Another Country

A young Parisian designer Marie Dessuant has just shared with us these images of her latest collection of simple, circular candlesticks. Developed for the British furniture and home accessory brand Another Country, the series comprises three, differently-sized oak wood and ceramic pieces which can also double as minuscule storage boxes. ‘Geo Table’ by Gonçalo Campos for Show Me Gallery

Young Portuguese designer Gonçalo Campos has recently realised this series of stone-and-wood side tables for an art and design gallery Show Me. Aiming to ‘respect the materials and their origin’, the designer focused on retaining the natural qualities of stone by keeping the top surface of the design flat and, thus, functional, while the underside has been left ‘free and wild.’ (more…)

‘Polka’ table lamp by Florent Coirier

The Parisian-based designer Florent Coirier has recently unveiled his latest table lamp design called ‘Polka.’ Exhibited for the first time during this year’s edition of the Paris Design Week, the simple turned-oak light incorporates the LED technology while its concealed pivoting joint enables full 360 degree rotation of the lamp. ‘Cordula’ floor lamp by Stephanie Jasny

Inspired by the form of an ordinary cable reel, a young Munich-born designer Stephanie Jasny has realised this small floor lamp called ‘Cordula.’ The light features a seven-meters-long cable that can be conveniently looped around the steel body of the design while the pivot jont enables the light to be rotated and positioned at various angles. Conceived as part of Jasny’s graduate project back in 2009, ‘Cordula’ has since been put into production by the French furniture manufacturer Ligne Roset. (more…)

Taking her inspiration form an old workbench commonly used in wood workshops, the young Norwegian designer Caroline Olsson has realised this pair of delicate, pared-down table lamps. Featuring a characteristic swivel screw tightening mechanism which in fact serves as a dimmer, similarly to Olsson’s ‘Skog‘ series,’Turn’ is also made of mouth blown glass and untreated wood but this time around, the designer decided to use birch instead of oak wood.
