The opening of a new gallery space at the internationally renowned Vitra Design Museum in Weil am Rhein, Germany – called, quite literally, the Vitra Design Museum Gallery – sees an exhibition of Memphis legend Ettore Sottsass’s lesser known work in enamel from the late 1950s. Vitra Design Museum invited Corning Museum of Glass to provide GlassLab on the Vitra campus during this year’s Art Basel. International designers such as Max Lamb, Sigga Heimis, Atelier Oi, Wendell Castle, Tomas Libertiny and Jeff Zimmerman will present design performances together with the museum’s highly skilled glasblowers live on an open air stage each day.
