'Chassis' by Stefan Diez for Wilkhahn
After severals years of development the German manufacturer finally realised Stefan Diez’ ‘Chassis’ chair for serial production. Made entirely with space-frame technology from the automotive world – a deep-drawing technique of thin sheet metal – ‘Chassis’ is hollow and light. In contrast to the hand whetted prototype with a leather seat Wilkhahn presented two years ago, the 0-series showcased at this year’s Orgatec is combined with a four-millimetre thick, finely grained polypropylene seat – upholstered, textile and leather version will follow soon.
'New Order' by Stefan Diez
‘New Order’ – Either Stefan Diez is a big admirer of British New Wave (which would be one more reason to be fond of his taste), or he simply found a fitting name for the new modular and stackable shelving system he designed for the Britsh manufacturer Established & Sons. The basic frame made from owder-coated aluminium can be accessorised with optional elements, including shelving, door compartments, space dividers, trays and castors.
'Bess' and 'Bessy' by Stefan Diez
After the successful launch of Stefan Diez’ first plywood chair ‘Houdini’ for e15, the German manufacturer presented at this year’s Milan Fair the second result of this fruitful collaboration. ‘Bess’ and ‘Bessy’ are an idyllic development of the dynamic construction of the ‘Houdini’ chair. Both consists of an upholstered seat and a back made from flexible oak-veneered plywood, which is not upholstered. The back is gracefully bent around the back of the seat to form the back rest.

Beyond its elegant form, the stool’s seat, which is reminiscent of a saddle, is designed to give slightly when the user sits on it. The 50 iF gold award winners represent 39 countries and were selected from a total of almost 2,500 entries. The awards scheme has been running for over 50 years.
