'Brina' prototype by Formfjord

The Berlin-based designers Fabian Baumann and Sönke Hoof known as Formfjord created this pendant light made of powder coated sheet metal.

Brina illuminates its own outer surface causing a warm atmospheric light. The integrated smartly folded reflectors cast parts of the light onto the lamps’s body which also underlines its faceted appearance and comprehensible design.

'Habibi' by Philipp Mainzer for E15

Inspired by the typical oriental tea tables the German designer Philipp Mainzer created this family of metal side tables – made in brass, copper or steel. The delicate tables are the combination of a filigree base and a tray which can be removed from the base and used as such on its own.

Designed for disassembly, for easy storage or refurbishing: Whitechapel table by Pli

An understated yet sophisticated coffee table design with soft corners and warm tones; the Whitechapel table by Pli is an expression of elegant eco-design and the simple use of high-quality materials. Solid caramel bamboo is supported by four strong pressed steel legs with deceptively slender profiles, finished in gloss powdercoat paint in a selection of colours to suit your interior. The table is designed and made in the UK using cutting-edge technology and established manufacturers.

Whitechapel pushes the limits of sustainable materials: precise detailing in nested joints between steel and bamboo.

The Swiss manufacturer nanoo presented this modular new shelf system designed by the Israeli designer Nitzan Cohen. The shelves impress through their concept. On the basis of the kind of bookends that one finds in every library, Nitzan Cohen develops a whole set of shelves. Base and back form a module with which a set of shelves in almost any size can be constructed. Already the smallest individual part forms an element that in itself functions as a miniature shelf. The product is characterised by a slightly inclined base with side walls positioned at right angles on either end. That means books are always in their optimal position on the shelves, even in small groups. Even when a book is taken out, what happens is not what we all know and expect: the remaining books do not begin to fall over. nan15 is an ever expandable set of shelves, which also functions as a room divider. The clever arrangement of base and back makes both sides of the shelves an attractive structure in any living room or office.

This set of shelves consists of only two different pieces which can be combined to any length or height. The structure can be assembled without using any tools and can be expanded at any time.

‘Candy’ by Sylvain Willenz

The 'Candy' collection

The 'Candy' collection

Polyester coating is a surface treatment the young Belgian designer Sylvain Willenz has been using for several of his projects.

Candy exploits the potential of steel reinforcement bars for concrete structures. Thanks to a simple industrial coating process normally used in the marine industry, the unattractive steel bars are given a new and seducing identity. A high gloss polyester coating, applied to the textured bars gives off a multitude of highly bright reflections.

Seat and back on massive wood

Seat and back on massive wood

Elementary design wherever you look. Many manufacturer demonstrated at this year´s Salone del Mobile a distinct propensity to simple and clear constructions and forms. The ‘Stil’ Chair by the French designer Patrick Norguet is another example for this tendency. The stackable chair has a steel construction and optionally a wood or steel backrest and seat.
