The Danish manufacturer Dinesen is a traditional brand for high quality plank floors. Founded in 1898 the company is still owned an managed by the same family. The uncomparable, imposingly wide and long planks Dinesen use for their floorings are made from European wood, from trees which are between 80 and 120 years old.

One of the last projects Dinesen realised was the plank floor for the re-opened Saatchi Gallery in London – a sponsoring of 5,000 m2 of Douglas fir flooring. This investment reflects Dinesen’s considerable growth in the UK in 2009.

'Berta' by Alexander Gufler

'Berta' by Alexander Gufler

The Austrian designer Alexander Gufler created this multi purpose chair made from a solid wood frame and plywood seat shells.

“In this shell chair the legs are held directly by the seat- and back shell. In combination with the substructure this parts become a stable unit. The intersection of the shells and legs results also into the armrest. The chair impresses with its easy-held outside and comfortable seating. Another focus has been laid on a low and good manufacturability.”

The Belgian designer Benoît Deneufbourg launched his practice B.dnb designstudio in 2004.

His ‘120° CoatStand’ was inspired by the classic coat rack that we find in the typical Dutch pub.

“Each pole of the coat stand is connected to the 2 others by smaller poles: 1 on the bottom and 1 on the top. The connections are both structural and usefull: they make the object more rigid and the little extension at each end gives the opportunity to hang an extra coat.”
