'Brenno' by Francesco Binfaré for edra

The Italian manufacturer edra, kown for its eclectic and eccentric objects, realised this new sofa designed by the renowned design veteran Francesco Binfaré. Manufactured with the use of high-quality materials, the stuffing is in Gellyfoam® covered with a thick layer of goose down, ‘Brenno’ is characterised by its indulgent appearance: the apparently randomly applied leather covering is accompanied by some artful details and seams.

'Rest' sofa by muuto

How elementary can a sofa be? The Norwegian designers Espen Voll and Torbjørn Anderssen – together they are Anderssen & Voll – realised a very basic sofa for the Danish manufacturer muuto. But as so often the real beauty lies in the details – in this case the solid wooden base, artfully set seams and high quality coverings.

'Grand' sofa by Monic Förster for Offecct

The Swedish manufacturer Offecct presented a wide range of novelties during this year’s Stockholm Furniture Fair – amongst pieces by Claesson Koivisto Rune, Luca Nichetto and Mario Ruiz this new large and generous sofa by the Swedish designer Monica Förster. ‘Grand’ comes in a right, a left and a straight version with an accompanying footstool and an optional divan.

Finn Juhl meets FurnID: 'Frost' by the Danish designers FurnID for Stouby

The manufacturer Stouby is one of these numberless old-established, family-run furniture companies you can find in the Danish provincial backwater. 'Tomo' by Naoto Fukasawa for De Padova

Naoto Fukasawa realised this puristic three-seater sofa for the Italian manufacturer De Padova. ‘Tomo’ is characterised by a clear composition of independently applied seating, arm- and backrest and an exposed supporting frame in aluminium tubing with internal steel reinforcement.

At this year’s imm cologne ClassiCon presented the extended ‘Munich’ collection, a result of a collaboration between the internationallly active architectural practice Sauerbruch Hutton and the the German manufacturer. The armchair was originally designed for the newly built Brandhorst Museum in Munich. We met Louisa Hutton, co-founder of Sauerbruch Hutton, Philipp Eckhoff, product designer at Sauerbruch Hutton and Benoit Steenackers, product developer at ClassiCon for a short interview.
