‘Geo Table’ by Gonçalo Campos for Show Me Gallery
Young Portuguese designer Gonçalo Campos has recently realised this series of stone-and-wood side tables for an art and design gallery Show Me. Aiming to ‘respect the materials and their origin’, the designer focused on retaining the natural qualities of stone by keeping the top surface of the design flat and, thus, functional, while the underside has been left ‘free and wild.’ (more…)

Last year’s Brit Insurance Design of the Year Award winner Samuel Wilkinson has just realised this reduced, minimalist side table for Danish furniture manufacturer Versus. Featuring a barely visible, yet functional indentation designed to ‘help frame and organise objects like a magazines, books, keys or a phone’, the visually light ‘Scallop’ is available in two heights. ‘W3′ side table by Nicolai Gulliksen for Strek Collective
Young Norwegian designer Nicolai Gulliksen has realised this pared-down ’W3′ side table for the Norwegian four-member Strek Collective. Made of hand-turned, solid ash wood, ‘W3′ was on view earlier this spring at Milan’s SaloneSatellite as well as during the ICFF fair in New York. (more…)

‘Hook’ side table by Eric Degenhardt for Richard Lampert; photo by Richard Becker
German designer Eric Degenhardt has realised this small, foldable table for the Stuttgart-based furniture brand Richard Lampert. Intended for both indoor and outdoor use, the design is made of powder-coated steel and it can be easily folded and stored away thanks to an elongated loop which stretches from the base. ‘Hook’ is available in four different colours: white, blue, grey and yellow. Stockholm-based Eva Schildt has designed this elegant, leather-trimmed side table for the Swedish manufacturer Klong. Called ‘Rink’, the oval table combines in its structure four different materials: steel, ash veneer, leather and brass. The table is available in three different sizes and two colourways: in either white or black with red-brown leather rim. (more…)

‘Contrast’ side tables by BCXSY
Israeli-born Boaz Cohen and Japanese-born Sayaka Yamamoto, the designer duo behind the Eindhoven-based practice BCXSY have realised this series of simple side tables called ‘Contrast.’ Part of a three-piece collection developed by BCXSY in collaboration with an Irish maritime cultural and educational centre Meitheal Mara, the construction of table was inspired by the traditional boat-building process while its clean lines and geometric form seem to hint at the Bauhaus aesthetics. 'Button' table by Fredrik Wærnes for Strek Collective
This simple two-tone side table has been realised by a young Norwegian-born Switzerland-based product designer Fredrik Wærnes. A result of a research on the history of Taiwanese bamboo furniture, these intricate, delicately hand-woven stainless steel tables were realised by the acclaimed Japanese practice Nendo as part of HAN Gallery‘s ‘Yii Designers’ series. Presented earlier in April at Milan’s Ventura Lambrate, the series features traditional hexagonal weave pattern which, instead off bamboo, has been achieved by weaving a number of thin steel strips into adjoining triangles.
