UK’s Royal Institute of British Architects has just announced the six projects which have made it to the shortlist of this year’s RIBA Stirling Prize. Among the contenders for Britain’s top architecture award are: Hepworth Gallery by David Chipperfield Architects, London Olympic Stadium by Populous, Lyric Theatre in Belfast by Dublin-based O’Donnell + Tuomey, Maggie’s Cancer Centre by OMA, New Court also by OMA (with Allies and Morrison) and Sainsbury Laboratory by Stanton Williams. The winner, selected by the judges led by the architect and former president of the Royal Academy Sir Nicholas Grimshaw, will be announced in Manchester on Saturday 13 October.

Trollstigen lookout point by Reiulf Ramstad Architects
An exhibition exploring works of Norway’s two most prominent and pioneering architectural practices, Reiulf Ramstad Architects and Jensen & Skodvin Architects, is currently on show at London’s Royal Institute of British Architects. On view until 15 June 2012, ‘Contemporary Norwegian Architecture – Landscape and Intervention’ surveys projects realised by both offices through a series of exhibits such as richly detailed models and images. A number of accompanying events such as film screenings are also scheduled with the fist one titled Knut Åsdam: Urban Transformations taking place this coming Sunday (29 April). (more…)

This curvilinear, award-winning airport located in Farnborough, Hampshire has been realised by the London-based practice 3DReid. The project encompasses an imposing, futuristic-looking 35-meters-high tower, an oscilloscopic 12,000-square-meters aircraft hangar and a voluptuous 4,000-square-meters operations and headquarters building.
