A Polish architectural practice Moomoo Architects have completed this single-storey minimalist house located in the Icelandic capital of Reykjavik. Uniformly white, the detached development features two fully-glazed walls and a terrace wall ‘which was pulled from the house and bended in a way that it looks like it came out from the landscape.’ (more…)

'Holo' pendant lamp by Patrycja Domanska; photo by Paris Tsitsos
A young Polish-born Vienna-based designer Patrycja Domanska has recently created this simple metal pendant lamp whose colour changes once the design heats up. Made of spun aluminium, ‘Holo’ is coated with a special thermochromic paint which fades from vivid turquoise to white when the lamp reaches 31 〫C (as seen in the video below). The design will be presented at Designersblock Milan 2012 which will take place as part of MOST during this year’s Salone del Mobile. (more…)

House without stairs by Przemek Kaczkowski and Ola Targonska, photo by Sebastian Oleksik
Following clients’ request, two Polish architects Przemek Kaczkowski and Ola Targonska have recently realised this striking single family house which is devoid of any stairs. Located in a residential area of Poland’s fourth largest city, Wroclaw, the 253-square-meters detached development consists of two distinctive space concepts: a street-facing, wood-clad ‘public’ part and a ‘private’ area which overlooks the garden and where all of house’s three bedrooms are located. 'Cloud' table by Lorens
Anna and Marek Lorens, the duo behind their namesake Warsaw-based architectural and design practice Lorens have recently realised this modular table whose unusual structure – as well as the colour – reminded us of that of a honeycomb. Composed from a number of hexagonal elements, the multifunctional table can either be used as a desk within an office environment or as an (undoubtedly decorative) element of a living room. (more…)

North House South by Le 2 Workshop
Our friends from Le 2 Workshop recently sent us their new draft for a single family house. The combination of a traditional pitched roofed and a minimalist modern house is located on a difficult north-south oriented site.

‘North House South’ by Le 2 Workshop
“‘N house S’ is open in both directions and makes it possible to see each part of the site from the opposite side. On the other hand the living room is hidden from the view of the neighbour sites.
The white parts are designed as rooms for parents and children and are open in the direction of the existing trees. Under the raised bedroom a parking „breezeway” is located.
Two separate terraces are connected by the living room and are in fact an extesion of the houses daily space. Some trees are located directy in the terraces and are the natural sun-shading “system”.”

‘House on the Water’ by by Le 2 Workshop
The two Polish architects Jedrzej Lewandowski and Lukasz Skirzynski of Le 2 Workshop recently presented their proposal for a ‘House on the Water’. The extraordinary design of the self-sufficient two familiy house was a result of research on yacht architecture. “The core is made of concrete and combined with steel cantilever structures. The foundation for the house is a concrete counterweight foot stabilised with the sea bed pile system”, the architects explain.

Cantilever steel structure
Here some explanations of the architects:
“The white look is achieved by the use of Corian. The floating deck, which rises with the water level thanks to the railing installed in the core structure, leads to the stairway. The top deck is available for the residents as well.
Eco-friendly features like the water desalination, energy accumulation, ventilation methods, water recycling, heat and energy consumption, tidal and solar energy systems are all there. The ‘House on the Water’ was designed to be sustainable. It is not only the installations, but it’s form and sun orientation. Vertical lines on the facade are the rails for computer driven shading system.”
