'Knocktopher Friary' by ODOS Architects

The Irish practice ODOS Architects realised this extension and refurbishment of an existing protected friary building in Knocktopher, Co. Kilkenny. Since the original collection of extensions and structures to the rear of the Friary building and adjoining Church were demolished the Dublin based architects were commisoned to design a new master plan for this small complex of buildings around a new central courtyard.

Set at the foot of a steep escarpment in the wicklow hills, this house, with it’s elevated living accommodation, allows the fluidity of the surrounding landscape remain uninterupted, whilst also giving the occupant a raised vantage point from which to engage with nature.

The young architects from ODOS, won ‘Best House 2009′ with 10A Grangegorman Villas in Dublin and got highly recommendet for Dwelling at Maytree.
