This aluminium lamp designed by the German designer Sebastian Herkner surprises with its second function. A socket is positioned on the underside of the lampshade, extending the flow of electricity from the light source.

“Herkner thinks not only of the light itself. He is also concerned with the object that is to be lit, which often requires an additional source of energy in order to fully unfold its potential. Whether a laptop, a toaster on the kitchen table or an electric drill, nan16 takes care of it and offers a direct connection. The room lamp was created from the consideration of a scenario from our everyday life. It is the imagination of a possible process that has led to this surprising product.”

“This light consists of an aluminium lamp shade and acrylic glass as a diffuser. Its defining feature is the integrated power plug, which extends the electric circuit to further appliances.”

The Swiss manufacturer nanoo presented this modular new shelf system designed by the Israeli designer Nitzan Cohen. The shelves impress through their concept. On the basis of the kind of bookends that one finds in every library, Nitzan Cohen develops a whole set of shelves. Base and back form a module with which a set of shelves in almost any size can be constructed. Already the smallest individual part forms an element that in itself functions as a miniature shelf. The product is characterised by a slightly inclined base with side walls positioned at right angles on either end. That means books are always in their optimal position on the shelves, even in small groups. Even when a book is taken out, what happens is not what we all know and expect: the remaining books do not begin to fall over. nan15 is an ever expandable set of shelves, which also functions as a room divider. The clever arrangement of base and back makes both sides of the shelves an attractive structure in any living room or office.

This set of shelves consists of only two different pieces which can be combined to any length or height. The structure can be assembled without using any tools and can be expanded at any time.
