The German manufacturer Movisi recently presented this modular system designed by the Slovenian designers Asobi.

The lightweight system allows different types of seating to be built. Short lounge chair or long public bench – two different Ljubljana modules (with backrest and without backrest) offer endless design possibilities.

The system features slices made from ARPRO® (Expanded Polypropylene), that are connected with a thread rod to create seating isles for different interior settings. An outdoor version with UV treatment is available (on request).

The ‘Ljublijana’ chair is quick to construct and quick to change; unique and diverse in its capabilities to modify its design as many times as the end user chooses to. The compositions can be up to 6m long.

'Spacecross' by Jan Ulmer

'Spacecross' by Jan Ulmer

Jan Ulmer designed this shelf system for the German company Schneiderschram. ‘Spacecross’ is assembled quickly. Simply interconnect the four equally sized shelves to create a SPACECROSS room module and combine numerous modules by just pushing them together. This allows you to design shelves of various shapes and sizes and, depending on the module layout, individual shelf configurations.

The shelf configurations can be individually modified and extended in each and every direction. And ‘Spacecross’ has the ability to adapt to bespoke room designs. It is made of MDF and available fully powder coated in white or anthracite or melamine resin coated in white.

Shigeru Ban for Artek

Posted by Nora Schmidt on 27.05.2009 - Tagged as: , , , , ,

The collaboration between Artek and the Japanese architect Shigeru Ban has been going on for several years now. At this year´s Salone del Mobile the Finnish manufacturer presented ’10-unit system’ by Shigeru Ban under the motto “One chair is enough”. The modular system consits of only one element. With a minimum of ten pieces one can create chairs of varying designs, stools, coffee tables, and even combine them for benches and more.

We had the pleasure to meet Shigeru Ban on the Artek stand in Milan.
