'Polite light' by Martin Born at Deisgn Deutschland 2011 exhibition in Milan

The German born and Eindhoven based designer Martin Born recently realised this wall lamp made from flourescent tubes. ‘Polite light’ is partly hand-laquered in order to screen the space from the direct homogeneous light. The lamp will be on show during this year’s Milan Design Week at the Design Deutschland 2011 exhibition at Carrozzeria in Via Tortona 32.

'Crate' sytem by Martin Born

This three-dimensional predicate uncloses applications inaccessible to the typological wall-form: Choreographed “movements” and sophisticated access paths are as easily realised as more “ordinary” setups – without loss of use value. Together with a nuanced palette of colours, the system gives architects an immense freedom in elaborating and coordinating the storage piece as an active design element.

The plug-in reading and accent light Clamp has a very figurative character and appears more as a ‘neighbour object’ than a technical illumination instrument. The lamp is powered by a recharchable battery and contains a LED light source.

These two wonderful products were designed by the young German designer Martin Born who was based in Helsinki and now just opened his new studio in Eindhoven.
