Telling Tales is the name given to LZF’s new communication campaign for 2016. Consisting of a collection of illuminated stories, the campaign is inspired by the 1950s, particularly by the work of painter Edward Hopper and Hitchcock’s 1954 classic film ‘Rear Window’.

For this year’s stand at Light & Building, Marivi Calvo, creative director of LZF Lamps, has designed a new type of display. One which, although light in appearance, is strongly architectural, providing autonomous spaces where lamps can be displayed individually as if in a home environment.

Escape pendant lamp by Ray Carver from the Stereovision Collection by LZF
Spanish lighting brand LZF is taking their ‘High Fidelity’ collection, launched last year, one step further this year with ‘Stereovision’, adding new colours and updating graphics inspired by the esthetics of the world of music of the 1950’s.
The designers at Yonoh studio were inspired by the 1960’s film “The World of Susie Wong” for ‘Chou’, a series of table and pendant lights for Spanish design brand LZF. Modelled on archetypal paper lamps from Asia, Chou is made with wood veneer instead of paper.
Alicante-based designer Remedios Simón has recently realised this intricately-detailed, handcrafted pendant lamp for the Spanish lighting specialists Lzf. Composed of multiple, delicate wood veneer spirals, the aptly named ‘Spiro‘ emanates a soft, diffused light. The design is available in a wide range of subtle as well as vivid colours. (more…)
On the occasion of this year’s Habitat Valencia and the Valencia Disseny Week some international bloggers were invited to come to Valencia and see how much Iberian design has to offer. Not that we didn’t know it before (not for nothing we dedicated our latest Flipbook to Spanish Design) but it is fantastic to get to know the people behind the scene.
Our first station was the factory of LZF lamps (Luzifer) – a manufacturer specialised in veneer lamps – in an old disused vinification plant outside Valencia. This video gives you the best impression of the product development and manufacturing process.
‘Air’ – the name says it all! The feathery table lamps are the new creations designed by Ray Power for the Spanish manufacturer. Like all the other lamps the Irish designer has developed with LZF, ‘Air’ is also made of artfully bent and folded veneer. The result is a shade and a base all in one that transmits visual stability and aesthetic flair. ‘Air’ is available in American white wood, cherry and beech veneer in yellow, orange, red, green, grey.
