Confessional 'J'adore Aglisia' at the Berlin Kunstsalon

Confessional 'J'adore Aglisia' at the Berlin Kunstsalon

During the Art Forum Berlin from September 23rd to 27th, the Berlin ‘Kunstsalon’ took place for the sixth time. The exhibition featured works by 71 artists on 7500 square meters at the impressive brick building of the Humboldt transformer station on Prenzlauer Berg. Shortly after the entrance, having passed through a crowd of apparent nuns and priests, the ironic installation ‘J’adore aglisia’ by architect Rafael Schmidt and Ole Kretschmann, runner of Berlin’s popular Polaroid photo booths, caught your eye. The photo booth which was elaborately transformed into a confessional enables the sinner to free his conscience from all the past misdoings – for a mere pittance, of course. As a personal piece of evidence he receives a stamped photo strip.

The name aglisia is an acronym for the Latin termini of the seven capital sins; therefore, it is an honest commitment to a new religious orientation which states: I covet sin! For a small fee, you can be redeemed from your sins.”
