The Japanese manufacturer Karimoku asked the design studio Isolation Unit to select some international designers for their new furniture collection – among them are the Swiss/Belgian Big Game, the Belgian deisgner Sylvain Willenz and Scholten & Baijings from the Netherlands. The results will be presented at this year’s 100%Design in Tokyo 30th October to 3rd November 2009.

Karimoku´s classic designs with Kimono fabrics by Jotaro Saito
The Japanese manufacturer Karimoku was founded in the 1940s in Kariya, in the suburbs of Nagoya. It is known for its classic designs, which are completely produced in Japan. The new fabrics Karimoku presented at this year´s Salone del Mobile are designed by the famous Kimono designer Jotaro Saito and are a smart combination of technical modern textiles and traditional Kimono patterns.
