‘Doll’ table lamp by Ionna Vautrin for Foscarini

Continuing her collaboration with Italian lighting specialists Foscarini, the acclaimed Parisian-based designer Ionna Vautrin has once again turned her attention to the Far East and the Orient for inspiration. Her new, well-proportioned and organically shaped (as has become Vautrin’s signature) table lamp ‘Doll’ has just been unveiled by the Marcon-based brand and it appears to be a natural continuation of Vautrin’s previous, also Orient-inspired pendant light, ‘Chouchin’. Composed of a round, blown glass head and a circular plastic base, ‘Doll’ emanates a warm, soft glow and the lamp is available in four colour versions: ivory, green, grey and red. (more…)

‘Polka’ table lamp by Florent Coirier

The Parisian-based designer Florent Coirier has recently unveiled his latest table lamp design called ‘Polka.’ Exhibited for the first time during this year’s edition of the Paris Design Week, the simple turned-oak light incorporates the LED technology while its concealed pivoting joint enables full 360 degree rotation of the lamp. First Prize – ‘The Optical Window’ by Smart Metropolitans, Poland

The wait is over! VIBIA, in cooperation with Architonic, are excited to announce the three winners of the CREA AWARDS 2012 edition. Creative minds from 40 different countries have participated in this contest, providing ideas for lighting applied to architecture and interior design.The main goal: to create inspiring and convincing photo collages of spaces illuminated using Vibia’s new modular lighting collections.The winners were selected on the basis of the conceptual interaction of the light setting with space, their creativity and the architectural and visual quality of the projects. The decision wasn’t easy for jury members Sevil Peach, Ulrike Brandi, Lars Krückeberg, Martin Gran, Francesc Rifé and Tobias Lutz. ‘Shadows’ pendant light by Dan Yeffet and Lucie Koldova for Brokis; photo by Martin Chum

The Parisian-based designer duo Dan Yeffet and Lucie Koldova have recently presented their latest collection of simple glass pendant lights called ‘Shadows’. Manufactured by the Czech lighting brand Brokis, the series is composed of four variously-shaped shades which are available in three colour versions: black-tinted semiopaque glass with a black ash neck; opaque, matte black glass with a black ash neck, and a matte white model with natural oak neck. ‘M. Lamp’ by David Irwin for Juniper

Young, Northern Ireland-born designer David Irwin has collaborated with a recently-established Brooklyn-based furniture label Juniper on this series of reduced, transportable table lamps. Simply called ‘M. Lamp’, the design was inspired by the lamps used by the 19th-century miners in England and is made of aluminium and powder-coated steel. Available in either white, black or orange, the light will be officially launched later this month (19 – 22 September) during London’s 100% Design. (more…)

‘Nuage’ lamp by Philippe Nigro for Foscarini

Five asymmetrical modules overlap creating a unique moiré effect in Philippe Nigro‘s Op art-inspired ‘Nuage’ lamp. Produced by the lighting specialists Foscarini, the modular lamp is made of polycarbonate and can be arranged and grouped in multiple combinations or used individually. ‘Nuage’ was unveiled at Foscarini’s Superstudio Piu exhibition in Milan during iSaloni 2012 fair. ‘Potence Pivotante’ by Charlotte Perriand reissued by Nemo

The Italian lighting brand Nemo has reintroduced this extremely reduced, wall-mounted lamp originally designed by the acclaimed Parisian designer Charlotte Perriand in 1938. Composed of two plain, matt black metal tubes and equally simple, frosted white glass diffuser, ‘Potence Pivotante’ has been presented at this year’s Salone del Mobile and is ‘the result of a meticulous rediscovery conducted in close collaboration with M.me Pernette Perriand-Barsac, the daughter and sole heir of Charlotte Perriand.’ (more…)

‘Cordula’ floor lamp by Stephanie Jasny

Inspired by the form of an ordinary cable reel, a young Munich-born designer Stephanie Jasny has realised this small floor lamp called ‘Cordula.’ The light features a seven-meters-long cable that can be conveniently looped around the steel body of the design while the pivot jont enables the light to be rotated and positioned at various angles. Conceived as part of Jasny’s graduate project back in 2009, ‘Cordula’ has since been put into production by the French furniture manufacturer Ligne Roset. (more…)
