Detail of the 'A Chair' from Steve Oh's 'A Collection'
A young Korean-American designer Steve Oh has just unveiled his latest collection of maple furniture during this year’s edition of New York’s ICFF. ‘A personal interpretation of classic Shaker furniture’ which is known for its ascetic simplicity and use of innovative joinery, Oh’s equally pared-down, functional ‘A Collection’ has been developed in its entirety using natural materials: solid maple wood and 100% wool felt and comprises a chair, a barstool and a table designs. Summer is perhaps not the ideal time to concentrate on the season’s most unwelcome of guests – the clouds and the frequently accompanying rain – yet we couldn’t help but to feature this humorous, softly-glowing table lamp called ‘Cloud Silver Rain’ which we spotted earlier last month at the ‘Japan by Design’ exhibition at ICFF in New York.
'Steel Mirror' by Angell Wyller Aarseth
Continuing with the Scandinavian theme, this striking clean-cut ‘Steel Mirror’ has been designed by the Norwegian trio of young designers and university friends: Simen Aarseth, Christoffer Angell and Øyvind Wyller. Quintessentially Nordic, the stainless steel, oak and leather piece is part of the new series of works by Angell Wyller Aarseth and it will be on show at this year’s ICFF in New York from 14 – 17 May 2011.
The Coventry Stool presented at this year’s ICFF is part of the award-winning collection of Studio Dunn.
The stool is available in cherry, maple and walnut solid wood.

BA table by Jeff Miller for Itoki Design
At this year’s ICFF the New York-based contract furniture manufacturer Itoki Design, a subsidiary of Itoki Japan, launched its first collection designed by the US designer and Itoki Design’s creative director Jeff Miller.
A good example of the comprehensible design of the collection is the BA table which is made of bent steel with powdercoat finish – the construction is totally transparent. BA saddles up next to either desk or sofa for placing accessories or working with a laptop.
'RR chair' by Jeff Miller for Itoki Design
My favourite piece, the RR chair combines a fully upholstered look with surprisingly lightweight construction. It consists of stacking steel frames in powdercoat colors compliment the fabric covers of unique self-cushioning material.
The DC is a simple sofa for lounge area or casual meeting delineated by a steel frame that cradles symmetrical cushions.
