The Swimming Cities of Serenissima

The Swimming Cities of Serenissima

Pirates are back, not only in the Indian Ocean. The Swimming Cities of Serenissima is a fleet of three intricately hand crafted vessels that will navigate the Adriatic Sea from the Litoral region of Slovenia to Venice, Italy in May of 2009, having as a goal to dock in Venice in time for the Biennale. Designed by the visual artist SWOON, the floating sculptures are descendants of the Swimming Cities of Switchback Seas (Hudson River, 2008) and the Miss Rockaway Armada (Mississippi River, 2006 and 2007).

These 3 sculptural rafts will bring music, performance, and a ‘cabinet of wonders’ to Venice that will have been collected on the journey. We look forward to seeing them!
