The ‘Wrong for HAY’ collaboration debuts at the 2013 London Design Festival with its inaugural collection

 

This year’s London Design Festival in September will see the debut of a new creative collaboration between London-based designer Sebastian Wrong and Danish design manufacturer HAY.

 

Called ‘Wrong for HAY’, the collection comprises lighting, furniture, ceramics, glassware and textiles, and, under the creative direction of Wrong (former design director at British design brand Established & Sons) it “draws upon [London's] creative energy, eclecticism and talent to explore new working relationships, new products and new markets”.

Bed linen by Scholten & Baijings with the designer's typical pattern for HAY

The Dutch designers Scholten & Baijings realised a new collection of home textiles for the Danish manufacturer HAY. The first items, bed linen, tea towels and two series of carpets were presented at this year’s Maison & Object for the first time.

'Expo Chair' for KiBiSi for Hay

In the tradition of furniture designed for a specific architectural space (think Mies van der Rohe’s ‘Barcelona Chair’ for the German Pavilion at the 1929 Ibero-American Exposition, Ernest Race’s ‘Antelope’ chair for the 1951 Festival of Britain, or, more recently, BarberOsgerby’s 2005 ‘De La Warr Pavilion Chair’ for Erich Mendelsohn and Serge Chermayeff’s Modernist English-seaside masterpiece), Hay have presented a chair at this year’s Maison & Objet in Paris designed by KiBiSi especially for the Danish Pavilion at the 2010 World Expo in Shanghai.

The piece is fabricated in powder-coated plywood. Hay have yet to decide which colours it will be produced in.
