‘Crossing’ table by Patricia Urquiola for Glas Italia

The acclaimed Spanish designer Patricia Urquiola has recently collaborated with the Italian glass specialists Glas Italia on this vividly-coloured dining table design called ‘Crossing.’ Made of tempered transparent, extremely light glass, the asymmetric table is available in two sizes and in two different patterns. The renowned Italian manufacturer Glas Italia has unveiled its new glossy headquarters located in Macherio near Milan. The 11,000-m2 steel-and-glass building has been designed by Glas Italia’s long-time collaborator, architect and designer Piero Lissoni who incorporated the original black-steel frame of what used to be an old factory and cladded it with vertical sheets of thermo-insulating U-glass. In 197os Shiro Kuramata, one of the most important Japanese designers of the last century, started to experiment with glass and created some extraordinary icons such as the ‘Glass Chair’. The Italian manufacturer Glas Italia recently re-edited these two minimalist pieces designed in 1976.
