'Hippo' pendant light by A + A Cooren for Vertigo Bird
The Paris based design studio A+A Cooren will present this new series of lamps developed together with the Slovenian manufacturer Vertigo Bird at the ‘Nouvelle Vague – the new French domestic landscape’ exhibition during this year’s Milan Design Week at Centre Culturel Français, Palazzo delle Stelline, corso Magenta 63.
One special detail of the lamp is the fixure: the lamps are attached on a magnetic spindle. The rounded glass volume with the reflective metal calyx stays stable by the pull of magnetism. ‘Hippo’ is available as ceiling, suspension, wall, table and floor versions, with an economic fluorescent bulb

'The Ensemble' by Helena Svensson, Karin Widmark and Josefin Hellström Olsson
The three individual Swedish designers Helena Svensson, Karin Widmark and Josefin Hellström Olsson presented ‘The Ensemble’ at the Greenhouse during this year’s Stokholm Furniture Fair. 'Emperor' table lamp by Neri & Hu for moooi
The Shanghai based practice Neri & Hu designed this series of lamps for the Dutch manufacturer moooi. Hand-made from bamboo and rattan ‘Emperor’ reflects the designers’s intention very well: the accentuation of contemporary Chinese design and traditional Chinese handcraft.
'Lichtkiste' by Clemens Tissi
The Swiss born and Berlin based designer, architect and former gallery owner Clemens Tissi developed during the last couple of years his first furniture collection, a number of cubic, very architectural appearing pieces. ‘Lichtkiste’ for example is a rather simple side table and floor lamp consisting of two spacial elements – one contains the light source the other one is the adjustable reflector and table top at the same time.
Magnetic lamp by Serener.org for Functionals
Still a prototype but soon in production: the Dutch designer duo Jan Willem Hofma and Christoph Seyferth, together they are Serener.org, developed this magnetic multi-purpose lamp for the Dutch manufacturer Functionals.
A magnetized base allows the lamp to be placed on any iron object such as a steel table, shelf or radiator.
'Groggy' by Tom Stepp for Northern Lighting
The Norwegian lighting manufacturer Northern Lighting developed this new floor lamp together with the Danish designer Tom Stepp. ‘Groggy’ is the perfect name for this figurative piece, which indeed looks a bit like a heavy hangover.
'Cappello' by molo
The Canadian manufacturer molo, especially known for its sophisticated paper furniture and room deviders, recently unveiled a new floor lamp. ‘Cappello’ is lit by LED. The lampshade, a paper “cap” – or cappello in Italian – is set upon a cylinder of soft white Carrara marble. The cylinder piece actually comes out of the hole bored through the marble block-shaped base for Arco, the iconic floor lamp designed by the Castiglioni brothers and manufactured by Flos.
