The French manufacturer Ligne Roset presented ‘Torn’, designed by the German Christian Werner this year at the Milan fair. The armchair’s shell is made of moulded polyester resin, available in matt black or matt white, the rotating base in brilliant-chromed steel. The seat and backrest cushions consist of polyurethane Bultex foam. The cover – microfibres or textile – is removable once detached from shell.

‘‘The inspiration for the shell of this armchair sprang from a game with a bit of paper. Cut out like a stylised little paper person, the ‘arms’ (armrests) and ‘skirt’ folded forwards – the shell of the armchair was already complete in terms of its basic structure. From a two-dimensions surface came, with just three simple folds, a three-dimensional form’’, says the designer.
