Cassina's reissue of Gio Ponti's iconic 'Superleggera' chair brings with it an injection of colour
When you revisit a design classic, you tread lightly. Ironic then that Cassina’s reissue of design legend Gio Ponti’s iconic ‘Superleggera’ chair, first launched in 1957 and which, in itself, is all about lightness – both visual and literal (the clue is, after all, in the name) – should bring with it some rather bold modifications.

'Cloth' by Jehs & Laub for Cassina
It’s not just a ‘cloth’ – this minimalist armchair by the German designers Jehs & Laub is one of the novelties Cassina presented at the ‘Milano Design Village’ in Zona Tortona during this year’s Salone del Mobile. Composed of an internal supporting fibreglass frame with polyurethane foam padding and a fabric or leather upholstery ‘Cloth’ joins the visual linearity of Cassina’s characteristical collection.

'Toot' by Piero Lissoni for Cassina
Piero Lissoni created a whole new product family for Cassina at this year´s Design Week in Milan: The Eve chair, the Toot sofa system, the Naan and Rotor tables and the Radar cupboards.
Beside the minimal construction of ‘Toot’ which makes the sofa seem to float, especially the leather upholstery points out the meticulous work on details. Invisible stitching and creative folds offer an origami-like covering that creates a very thin side part and outlines forms perfectly.

Sophisticated folds for the side part

available with fabric upholstery and fabric armrests of a different thickness than those in the leather version
