'Cosmos' pedestal tables by Ingrid Svensson and Olle Wingård for Minus tio
Let’s stick to turnery: the young Swedish label founded by Ingrid Svensson and Olle Wingård presented this family of side tables. All tables are composed of the identical base and table tops, the variable turned middle piece defines the table’s height.
The Italian manufacturer Casamania presented a series of rather smooth side and coffee tables, designed by Sam Baron.
'Poliart' collection of coffee tables by Luca Nichetto for Casamania
Italian designer Luca Nichetto has created a fascinating collection of coffee tables for Casamania, inspired by his love of travel. The form of each of the four table-tops is based on a different European city – Paris, Barcelona, Venice and Istanbul – as it would appear in a city map, albeit in a stylised, abstracted way.
You can see, we’ve left no stone unturned in our search for new products and developments during this year’s Milan fair. Have a look at the 8th part of our video reportages. Amongst others it will show you some remarkable extendable table systems by Draenert and Fiam, an introduction of the new chair by Fabio Novembre for Casamania and a short interview with Shin Azumi.
Italian design brand Casamania has previewed a new chair by designer and architect Fabio Novembre. Inspired by the car brand Abarth (the auto-sport division of Fiat), the piece is suggestive of automobile design in both its form and choice of materials.
'Abarth Chair' by Fabio Novembre for Casamania
Polycarbonate and die-cast aluminium are used to express dynamic lines that refer to the speed and aerodynamics associated with car-racing. The seat element sits on a reverse cantilever base. The chair will be shown in April at the Milan Furniture Fair as part of Casamania’s new collection.
'Granny' pendant lamp by Pudelskern Design for Casamania, 2010
There’s somewhat of a contradiction at the heart of Casamania’s new pendant lamp ‘Granny’, designed by Pudelskern Design and shown at the recent Maison & Objet design fair in Paris: a light (and, ergo, heat) source that sports a natural-wool covering. The aesthetic is industrial-design-meets-toothy-craft. While the wool comes from Tyrolian sheep, the lamp itself is knitted by hand in the Netherlands. You’ll be pleased to hear the material is fire-retardant…
The Italian manufacturer Casamania by Frezza presented a new family of outdoor chairs: ’Alieno’. The simple but unwontly proportioned wire structure is available in two versions: with a slender tall back rest suitable for use around a table and a wider, lower ‘lounge’ version.
