Dutch design brand DUM has created a series of distinctive brightly coloured wool carpets called ‘Stripes’ with help from noted colour artist Fransje Killaars.
An excursion through the surrounding blocks around the Form Us With Love studio in the Sankt Eriksplan neighbourhood of Stockholm, yielded the patterns, colours and textures for a series of carpets called ‘Hidden Stockholm’ for Belgian carpet brand JoV.

Consisting of four, variously-sized polygonal models, this collection of hand-knitted carpets has been designed by the French design duo Studio FRST. Manufactured by Parisian contemporary rug specialists Chevalier édition, ‘Nova’ series is made of 100 % wool and each of the multi-coloured pieces can be arranged and grouped in multiple combinations or used individually. ‘Tresse’ – French for ‘plait’, is a collection of bold, graphic patterned carpets recently created by Paris-based designer Samuel Accoceberry for a French contemporary rug specialists Chevalier édition. Franziska Wernicke, a Rotterdam-based textile designer and founder of detailF design studio has realised this subdued, four-piece collection of New Zealand wool rugs called ‘room moment’. Comprising one rectangular and three circular versions, the series features a distinctive three-colour gradation which is accentuated by a delicate radial pattern emanating from an offset point. A complex, high-tech tufting technique has been used in the production of the series and the ‘c3′ model of the rug was exhibited and nominated for the ‘interior innovation award 2012′ at the imm cologne’s [D³] Contest. Earlier this year, designer Petra Lundblad-Fridén has created this series of hauntingly beautiful, inkblot-like printed carpets for the Swedish rug manufacturer Kasthall. Called ’Dag & Natt’ – Swedish for ‘Day & Night’ – the dreamlike collection stems from Lundblad-Fridén’s ‘passion for experimenting with different images and colours, and using layers to create new expression’ and encompasses four different designs inspired by the weather and sky phenomena: Haze, Thunder, Summer Dawn and Autumn Dusk.
