Painted steel threads in various diameters form the base of ‘Orion’, a coffee table design by Jarrod Lim for Bonaldo. The overlapping rings give the coffee table an architectural look that is softened by the opaque glass of the table top.
The Munich based designer Matthias Demacker created this sidetable made from rotation moulded polyethylene for the Italian manufacturer Bonaldo. ‘Pebble’ will be showcased for the first time at this year’s Milan fair in April.
Here is what the designer explains:
“‘Pebble’ is a sidetable with soft shapes, that are inspired by stones washed smooth by the sea found on the beach.
The openings in its body underline the floating lines of the table and also have a practical aspect:
you can store your daily belongings- like magazines and books around your sofa- in the tables’ body.”

'Cart' by Luca Nichetto for Bonaldo
In Milan the Italian manufacturer Bonaldo presented this multi-purpose chair designed by the young and extremely active designer Luca Nichetto. ‘Cart’ is composed of a thick ergonomic polyurethane shell and a metal base and available in grey, white, red, anthracite and ivory.
“I wanted a product that got noticed, where design was based on functionality. Cart has a rather ‘50s design and very special shapes, especially when viewed from the back. It is also extremely functional: it can be stacked with a mechanism like that used for supermarket trolleys – the shopping carts from which this product takes its name”, says Luca Nichetto.

With his playful design Alain Gilles creates entire worlds which are conspicuous for their colour. As the product of a conscious exploration of the possible multiple personalities of an individual object, Gilles has now created a piece of furniture which is designed along strict but at the same time geometrically free lines. The concepts of movement and durability are integrated into the design process of the ‘Big Table’, which was created for Bonaldo and presented at Salone del Mobile 2009. The result is a fusion of function and sculpture.
